What we noticed as a couple
Temptation felt like a high-energy adult party hotel. The daytime pool programme and themed evenings drive the experience. Guests may be open-minded, but that does not make the property an official swingers resort.
Desire Riviera Maya felt more deliberately sensual and lifestyle-oriented. The couples-only rule changes the social dynamic, and the clothing-optional and play spaces are part of the published concept rather than an unofficial guest interpretation.
Neither is “better” for everybody. The right choice is the one both partners can describe honestly without hoping the resort will change the other person’s boundaries.
Choose Temptation if…
- You want a big party atmosphere.
- You are travelling as a couple, with friends or as a single adult.
- Top-optional freedom is enough; full nudity is not the objective.
- You prefer public areas without permitted sexual activity.
Choose Desire Riviera Maya if…
- You are travelling as a couple and both actively want a lifestyle setting.
- You want designated au naturel areas.
- You want access to a Jacuzzi Lounge and private playroom.
- You prefer a resort whose rules and programme are explicitly couples-focused.
Our final recommendation
For a first open-minded party holiday, Temptation may feel like the gentler step because participation in anything beyond the party atmosphere is not built into the concept. For couples who have already discussed clothing-optional and lifestyle boundaries and want that experience deliberately, Desire Riviera Maya is the clearer fit.
